Constance Frederica Gordon Cumming

Constance, or 'Eka' to her friends, discovered a love of travel after visiting her sister in India. Following the visit, she travelled widely. Her 1878 visit to the United States was perhaps the most important and influential.

Constance's imagination was captured by the splendour of the Yosemite valley. A talented artist, her watercolour paintings gained international recognition and were exhibited at the Colonial and Indian Exhibition of 1886.
